Where to start?  How about from the present going backwards…I have lived in Scottsdale for almost 7 years with my family.  We moved all over the country, but once we moved here, there was no getting us out of the Valley.  We have lived in so many great cities, but Scottsdale is our favorite. I have enjoyed many years as a High School French Teacher and Corporate Attorney.  However, I made a career change to Luxury Residential Real Estate in North Scottsdale and Paradise Valley at Keller Williams Integrity First.  It was a natural fit for me. the lead singer in a rock band.  Then, my aspirations changed dramatically to dreaming of being an attorney practicing international law.  I have always been fascinated with other cultures.  This led me to major in French and Secondary Education.  I taught for 6 years in order to save up enough money to pay for law school.  After law school, I didn’t quite make it to my international law dream, however,  I practiced as a corporate attorney specializing in asset protection. I have now moved on to real estate which allows me to use so many skills I used while practicing law.

Biggest Dream…

is to start a foundation for children in Phoenix. There are so many worth causes that I don’t think I could ever pick just one. I currently am on two committees in the Valley helping raise money to prevent domestic violence and help families get out of homelessness. With my own foundation,  I will raise money to be distributed each year to children’s charities that are the most in need of the funds.  These would include charities that work with special needs, child abuse and neglect, homelessness, childhood cancers, diabetes,  and learning disabilities.  I would also use the foundation to set up a free legal clinic for families with children with special needs and disabilities who need an advocate.

My Pet Peeve(s)…

when people don’t return the shopping cart.  Really?  Especially in this climate.  It’s not snowing on us.  It’s not pouring down rain. Okay, given 4 months out of the year, you may get sunburned returning the cart, but come on…walk an extra 20 steps and return your cart.

I literally LOVE Arizona, so it’s hard to pick one favorite thing.  I love the weather, I love how affordable it is and that you can truly build a life for yourself here.  I love that it is a big city with plenty of entertainment (i.e. 4 pro sports teams, concerts, outdoor adventures). I love its central location to other wonderful places to visit (i.e. L.A., Vegas, San Fran, Mexico, Denver, Santa Fe).  I love that professionally it feels like a small community even though it is a global marketplace.  Ok, I’ll stop there!

Before I moved to Arizona, I was a model in New York City for 12 years. In NYC, you have  to fight for everything you want, from getting into your favorite restaurant, getting a good seat in a movie theater, getting the apartment you want to fighting for a taxi cab… Here in Scottsdale, you have have the benefit of a laid-back, small town feel with all the luxuries of a big city such as the amazing restaurant scene and tons of fun things to do with kids. The fact that there is a Barney’s also gives some street cred.

Taking the actions required to start my own “all natural” bodybuilding organization. This industry has been incredibly rewarding for me and I want to share it with as many people as possible, by leading by example. Through competing myself I have earned my IFPA Bikini Professional Card. I am working toward winning a Pro competition. I have coached several people including a team of 28 bikini and male physique competitors-many of which brought home hardware. I was able to get a 50+ bikini division added to the organization. I also have an online team i am currently training in Northern California. This is just the beginning of the process.

Roland was born in Pretoria on March 7, 1980. Nicknamed “The Rocket”, he is an Olympic gold medalist and is South Africa’s most successful swimmer; he holds the world record in the short-course 50 meter freestyle, becoming the first man to swim the distance in under 21 seconds.

He first took interest in the sport when he was 13 years old and began to compete three years later. Roland attended the University of Arizona on scholarship and broke several NCAA records during his collegiate career. He graduated with degrees in Psychology and Communications.

Although he is asthmatic, Roland holds multiple records in the 100 m freestyle, 50 m freestyle, 100 m butterfly and 50 m butterfly events. He was voted the African Swimmer of the Year by Swimming World in 2004, 2005 and 2006 and the South African Swimmer of the Year in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
